具備一定的英語應用能力已成為21世紀國民的基本要求，對于以培養學生實用技能為主的職高學校來說尤其重要，提升學生的英語聽說能力已成為職業高中英語教學的重要內容之一。然而，職高學生普遍學習自覺性差、學習能力有限，英語基礎薄弱、口語表達能力更是欠缺。那么，如何能夠在有限的課堂時間里提高學生英語聽說方面的能力，又不至于影響讀寫方面的訓練效果呢？經過嘗試，筆者認為，實施英語課前三分鐘演講不失為一種有效的方法。
一、選取適當的演講主題
因為是Free Talk，最明顯的問題是演講主題的重復，缺少創新，從而不利于激發學生的興趣和拓展新的知識面。于是，筆者想到以下幾點建議：
1．結合教學內容選取主題
中職教材基礎模塊1 Unit 5 Keeping Fit，可建議學生就How to Keep Fit這一主題進行演講；而Unit 10 Famous People，則可選定A Famous People I like Best的主題，這樣既能確保選材的廣泛性，同時又把書本內容和演講主題有機地結合起來，一方面鍛煉了演講才能，另一方面又達到鞏固書本知識的目的。
2．根據生活實際選取主題
開學時讓學生描述自己豐富的假期生活，學校舉辦運動會則談論對運動的認識和擅長的運動項目。在清明，端午，中秋等傳統節日時，讓學生介紹節日的特色，幫助學生更好地了解中國的傳統文化；在西方感恩節時，讓學生對“I’d like to say thanks to….”這一主題進行演講，以表達自己對家人、老師、同學和朋友的感恩之情。
3．結合寫話練習選取主題
選取恰當的寫話主題讓學生演講，既能起到育人作用，同時也能以此提高學生的寫話能力。例如，我選用了“An unforgettable thing””Suggestions on doing sth.”等主題讓學生演講。學生廣開思路，暢所欲言，通過這樣的課前演講，積累了素材，為寫話做好了準備。
二、采用多樣的演講形式
1．學生個人自述
大多數學生能夠寫好自我介紹，但是寫好并不等于說好，為了能使學生流利地進行自我介紹，教師可以給學生提供一個推銷自我、展現自我的舞臺，并給予一定的點評：表達是否流暢、表現是否大方；內容是否包括了姓名、來自哪里、家庭情況、專業技術能力、個性特征、興趣愛好、理想等，以幫助學生改進。
2.講故事或故事接力
在課堂上，如果老師能夠偶爾采用有童趣的方法，可以幫助學生發散他們的想象力，發掘他們的創造力，講故事或故事接力就很具代表性。同學們講的故事最好要淺顯易懂，并且能和所學專業相結合，這樣有助于他們今后走上工作崗位后更好地學以致用。
3.猜謎語
如介紹班上某位同學或某位名星或某位著名的作家等等，先不說他的名字，通過描述性的語言讓大家來猜猜他是誰，比比看誰猜得又快又準。
4．角色扮演
如A同學扮演Doctor，B同學扮演Patient，情景再現醫生給病人治病的過程，還可用上些道具來輔助表演，如醫生的白大卦和聽診器等；再如可以模仿求職者和招聘官之間的對話，由老師扮演招聘官，一名學生扮演求職者，或者招聘官和求職者分別由兩名學生來扮演，進行模擬對話，為學生以后的求職面試打下基礎。
5.聽唱英文歌曲
很多的英文歌曲都具有簡單易記、朗朗上口的特點，如Jingle Bells， Little Stars ， Spring is Where等英文兒歌，Take me to your heart， Two butterflies等流行歌曲。聽唱英文歌曲可以激發同學們的興趣，還可以訓練他們的語音語調及發音。
三、進行及時的評價
1．教師當場點評
筆者在每一次演講活動結束后都緊跟著完成點評，雖然點評的語句不多，但是實踐證明這是必不可少的一環。可點評的點很多，如演講技巧、文章的立意、最出眾的地方、尚欠缺的地方等。多表揚、多鼓勵，老師恰當的點評，演講學生非常看重，眾多學生也聽得非常認真，這是一個引導的契機，對每位學生的培養所起的作用都很大。
2．評委評分
老師和同學們都是評委，采用十分制或百分制進行打分，算分則可由課代表在課后進行。評分最重要的標準可以從儀容儀表、發音、語音語調語速、現場感染力等多方面來進行評定。所有同學演講的最后得分都將記錄在成長檔案中，作為形成性評價的一個重要依據。
3．優秀演講稿裝訂成冊
教師選出一些結構清晰、語句通暢、用詞優美的優秀演講稿，或裝訂成冊或張貼在教室的宣傳欄上以供全班同學共同學習，積累優美的句子和演講的素材，為同學們今后的演講奠定基礎。注重學生的成功體驗同時也能激勵這些優秀演講稿的作者進一步地提高自己的寫作和演講能力，符合新課標的成功激勵機制。
四、英語課前演講的實效
1.提高學生的英語綜合應用能力，尤其是口語表達能力
英語課前三分鐘演講從表面上看來只是說的能力的體現，但背后其實是英語各方面綜合能力的培養。為了準備演講稿，課前得去“寫”，這有助于提高學生的寫作水平；寫好之后，為了能做到脫稿演講事先得背下來，而背誦演講稿的過程又是不斷的“讀”的過程；之后上臺來演講，通過“說”的方式把自己想要表達的意思呈現出來；而坐在臺下的同學則須認真的“聽”方能理解其演講的主題和內容。可見整個過程實際貫穿的就是聽說讀寫能力全方位的培養。特別要強調的是學生在反復的朗讀、背誦、復述的訓練過程中，更為口語的提高打下來扎實的語言基礎。
2.培養學生自主探究、合作交流的學習能力
新課標要求教師“善于激發學生的學習興趣，能夠充分調動學生的學習積極性和主動性，引導學生自主探究、合作交流”。英語學習的最終目的在于運用，而課前三分鐘演講則為同學提供了個“學以致用”的舞臺。學生為了寫演講稿認真準備、自我探究、鉆研教材，通過學習教材明確了如何寫演講稿及演講的技巧等，同學們利用參與三分鐘演講的方式來參與課堂教學，為了三分鐘演講而采用的合作式學習方法，都符合了教學改革的思路，極大地激發了學生主動學習的熱情，從而變“要我學”為“我要學”。
3.為職高專業學生的職業生涯奠定基礎
課前三分鐘的英語演講讓絕大多數的學生真正意義的感受到“三尺講臺”，比如如何去克服在講臺上的緊張、如何去掌控自己的聲音做到抑揚頓挫。俗話說得好“熟能生巧”，只有經常走上臺來演講，才能練就教學中自信從容的儀容儀態，為小學教育和學前教育專業學生的職業生涯奠定基礎。

65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao.Then he was only 5 years old.Heoften visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there,which he thought was a dragon.He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted oneto keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had toleave.On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one ofthe teeth from the dragon’s mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at havingstolen it was there in the background all through his life.It was always on hisconscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older.Finally he decidedto put right his childish error.In 2002, he visited Qingdao and returned it tothe Aquarium with his sincere apologies.He received a warm welcome.

Everywhere we look, there are people playing games, watching movies and doing anything they think is joyful; there are clubs, parties, associations and various forms of sets for attracting different individuals to enjoy their collective hobbies. All above seems common in ordinary people’s daily life, because enjoying life is an indivisible right that god has given to us. However, in their eyes, it’s not only a waste of time, but also an evasion of responsibility. They think the society and nation would become more harmonious and prosperous if people could spend the time for leisure on what they think these people should do, like their jobs, care for the elder people, volunteer services and so on.
Others believe the time for personal enjoyment is appropriate, because the times has changed.
From the huge iron giants to the invisible internet, science and technology has vastly improved human’s efficiency on physical behavior, which means that the work our ancestors need to spend lifetime to do can even only cost us a little effort. Under the circumstances that they have accomplished what they have to do, the rest of time they have the absolute right to arrange. The obligation that the law imposes has fulfilled, and why can’t they spend a little more time on personal enjoyment?
As far as I am concerned, the foundation of social order is built not only by law, but by morality. If we are only satisfied with just finishing what law requires and don’t value what others have sacrificed for making the world better, the human society will become an icy machine to make profits for those with vested interests, indifferently with no mercy. We indeed have more free time to arrange now, but if we can spend the time to help others and benefit the society, the time will be more meaningful and valuable, which finally promote the social progress by those we called examples or heroes. From this perspective, I can say there are more that we should do. We can’t require everyone to be unselfish and sacrifice their leisure for society, but we can start with ourselves and influence others by our action. If everyone could do this, the world would become much more peaceful and harmonious.
